The Karma is basically your site activity. The more you interact in the forums, add pics and videos, comment on posts, etc., the higher your Karma goes. In the forums, users can give or subtract points to other users by clicking the thumbs up/down next to the karma score. You can see your total for your account here and your karma meter is visible on your profile page.

I'm still kind of testing this feature out to see how it works but may consider dropping it if it doesn't seem to add any "value" to the experience of our members. I certainly don't want it to turn into a click fest just to boost your karma.

Let me know what you think....Should we keep the karma thing working for a while to see how it goes? Or should we just get rid of it?

I figured we would just see how it goes....could be cool.

Is it possible to make the Terms of Use automatically be selected after we have hit it once? (under comments) That way we don't have to click it every time we comment.

Also, when you are posting a blog post, the trackbacks area on the right side doesn't work. When you put in the URL and save it it disappears when you go back to edit it.

But besides that the site is great!

Another thing. On our profile could you make a blog tab on the top? It seems like the blog is separated from the main site a bit.

Maybe a "My Discussions" tab on our main profiles too?

I have disabled this feature because it is a pain in the ass. Basically, just keep your comments respectful and everything will be just fine. If commenting gets out of hand.....DELETE,DELETE,DELETE.

I will have a look into your other suggestions. Thanks.

If this is editable I would recommend it....

I would edit how Vimeo embeds look on the site and always have the play bar red to match the site but Im not sure if you can edit that.

I have to login every time i come back to the site i think. Is that the case for everyone else too? Can you set the logout time to be longer (like forever)?

Great site, happy to see it.

Oh, and one more thing; could you please put a microwave and mini-fridge tab on my profile page, so I don't have to leave my computer desk; and maybe a munchies page in the forums, so we can share snacks?
Other than that, this site is awesome!!!! Way to step it up Ryler

I have noticed that the remember me checkbox on the homepage does not store the user session but the remember me box on the community homepage does.

I am also aware of the display issues with the remember me checkbox on the community page and I am working on it. Depending on which browser you are using, you may or may not see the box on the community homepage login area but you should still be able to "click" on it to store your session.

This is an issue that I am aware of and am working to correct.

the links page is currently very "temporary". I will be cleaning this up a lot and adding links, categorizing and adding logos. I want it to be a good resource for people so it will definitely start looking better soon.

Also how do you get raised higher than a "fresh boarder"? is that only a admin type name or is it based of off your post count? Because my green bar is full but I am still a "fresh Boarder"

The Karma feature in your profile is based on "points" that are accumulated through site activity. The status bar is based on a 100 point scale with each of the little green leafs representing 20 points. This is just a visual indicator about how active a person is on this site. (Currently the graph is the only indicator of your points but I may modify the community template to include your points #)

Here is a list of a few ways to increase your Karma points... Upload an avatar +5, upload a photo/video +2, approve a friend request +1, create a new forum topic +3, add a new blog +2, reply to a forum thread +1, updating your profile/status +1, add a new photo album +2......etc.

Basically the more you interact and share content, the "more awesomer" your karma gets.

***NOTE*** The user +/- karma feature in the forums has been deactivated. This was not integrated with your member profile points and was strictly related to your forum board presence and was a bit confusing as it did not directly affect your profile karma. This was essentially a rating system for forum users that I did not want to move forward with.

Also how do you get raised higher than a "fresh boarder"? is that only a admin type name or is it based of off your post count? Because my green bar is full but I am still a "fresh Boarder"

This "rank" is based on your post count. I may change the names of these ranks but currently you are a fresh boarder until you have made 15 posts, you move up at 15, 30, 50,100,300. So just keep on using the forums and you will see your ranking increase over time.

I tried to post a entry to my blog but it doesn't look like its being added. Am I missing something here? I hit save after i've got it all typed up but it doesn't publish, is there a publish button somewhere?

I have a request: Is there a way to change the number of posts displayed per page in a forum topic?

What i mean is, a thread with only a handful of posts is 2 pages long. This thread has 18 replies and is 4 pages long. That's a little ridiculous, and a bit of a pain to read when you have to load a new page every 5 or 6 posts. Can we set the number of posts per page closer to 50 or so?

Thanks. Great site.

Hey Float. Currently blogs can be added by anyone but can only be published by me. This is to prevent any spam but I may change this and just see how it goes. Normally your blog will be published within a couple of hours and certainly that same day, but I was out of town for a bit and was unable to do any work on the site. Sorry about the delay.

Oh yeah, you should try to get some video or something thrown together about The Locals Ride for the BBFF to hopefully get some more users. And have you though about making a Facebook page? It helps so much with exposure

On other peoples profiles can you add the area to write on their wall and recent posts on their wall above the recent activity on this site? That way we dont have to scroll past it to write them something. Also, is there anyway we could get notifications for comments on pics/vids we post?

Re:Site Comments and Suggestions 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
This has got to be the greatest idea I have ever had! Either that or sitting in this car for 14 hours is starting to catch up with me.... Anyway, a few times per week I get random messages from people on different social networks (pinkbike, facebook, YouTube, ec.) that want to know where they should bike in Bend, how to get there and what else to do. I always reply the best I can but it really sucks always trying to type that much. So I had the idea. "what if the locals ride had a tab under the community section for people vising bend for the freeride bike scene?". I thought that there could be a page with maps (google maps so the 'directions to here' option is avaliable) to all the popular spots as well as when the best times to ride them where. There could also be info on cheap places to eat and the best bike shops to hit up if your bke breaks down. Vistors could comment when thetly were coming to town and locals could offer to meet up ith them just to shred. I thought it was an awesome idea and if i could do half the stuff ryry can on the web I totally would. In fact I was so proud of the idea that I typed this entire thing on my iPhone. If you are interested let me know cause I would love to help out. Maybe I could make a video for the page?

Later
